At Zoo Atlanta you will see approximately 1,000 animals representing 250 species living in natural environments simulating their own native homes. The exhibits include the African Rain Forest which is home to many gorillas and monkeys; the Asian Forest has the ever popular giant pandas and red pandas; the Sumatran Tiger Forest has waterfalls, rivers and rocky crevices for the tigers to explore; and the Masai Mara exhibit shows the terrain and animals of East Africa including lions, elephants, rhinos and giraffes. There's also a petting zoo with pot bellied pigs, sheep and pygmy goats along with live animal shows and a carousel.
When it’s time to take a lunch break, you can either bring your own for a picnic lunch in the park or stop at one of the food courts located throughout the zoo. Zoo Atlanta Trading Company and Pandamonium Gift Shop have the perfect keepsake, offering a variety of gifts from food to housewares. Zoo Atlanta, located at Grant Park near downtown Atlanta Georgia, is open year-round except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The zoo is handicapped accessible with wheelchair and stroller rentals.
