The Vocal Group Hall of Fame and Museum is located in The Columbia Theatre in Sharon, Pennsylvania. The theater originally opened in 1922, but closed in 1981 after television took over the industry. In 1985 Tony Butala purchased the building by auction with the intent to restore and preserve entertainment in the community. Several artists have contributed their memorabilia, appearances and performances with benefit concerts to support this organization. The museum features the sights and sounds of music starting from the early 1800’s to the present day, featuring artists from the New York City street performers to California Dreamin’. The museum’s magnificent floors offer an exciting journey back into time where you can view, hear, learn and experience why vocal group music has left a lasting place in the hearts of millions of people around the world. The Vocal Group Hall of Fame was created with the purpose of uniting and honoring the greatest vocal groups of the world by preserving and promoting their music and memories, and exhibiting the life long careers of the inducted artists as inventors and creators of the music and to pass it on to many generations for years to come. They are open from Thursday until Sunday except holidays.
