The “Playground of the Pacific” is the nickname for Venice Beach. Unlike any other place, it’s a virtual carnival with a funky atmosphere of street performers and artists, making it “the place to visit” for spring break. Venice is the Mecca for the Street Performers like Robert, the Venice Chainsaw Juggler; or Harry Perry, the world's Legendary Guitar playing musician on roller skates; just to name a few of the people who stake their livelihood on their live performances up and down the boulevard. When you travel along Ocean Front Walk you will never get tired of all of the dancers, comedians, musicians, jugglers, weightlifters, and skaters and, of course, the bikini clad girls. There are plenty of shops and restaurants catering to a large variety of tastes and rental booths where you can rent bikes or skates for the day to join in the fun.
A walk around Venice will also make you aware of the free spirit and open attitudes for creativity. As you take note of the many art studios, galleries and murals painted on the buildings, you'll understand why artists from all over the world flock to this artists' haven. You can explore the artwork of R. Cronk, Steve Shizumura, and Nancy Sadler. While you’re strolling along the beautiful sandy beach, you don’t want to miss the works of Marc Goodrich, The Incredible Sandman of Venice Beach, sporting his bizarre sand sculptures. From the moment you arrive, you'll be immersed in the theme that is “Venice Beach”.
