Among other great events, Austin, Texas, “Live Music Capital of the World”, hosts the annual South By Southwest, effectionately known as SXSW, for 10 days during the University of Texas Spring Break, (SXSW 2011 will be taking place March 11-20).
From around the world, musicians, filmmakers, and multi-media artists come here to present their film, interactive multi-media work, and music. There's entertainment, tradeshows, festivals, film screenings, interactive website competitions, conferences, and workshops from participants in the music, film and internet industries centered at the Austin Convention Center. The first half of the event is film and interactive segments with the second half being music. SXSW has a global reach and focuses on the creative aspect of the entertainment industry. It's a venue for artists to showcase their work, market their products, create contacts, exchange information, learn and teach. It's like an entertainment industry summit.
