In 1950, the Old Timers Association in Philadelphia, made up of former soccer players, took it upon themselves to acknowledge the achievement of soccer in America and founded the Soccer Hall of Fame, but it only existed for a time on paper. The National Soccer Hall of Fame was established in 1979, in Oneonta, New York, also known as "Soccertown USA". There are over 80,000 artifacts, making it one of the largest soccer collections in the world. Some of the items are rare photography, 1920's - 50's artifacts from the American Soccer League, the world's oldest U.S. made soccer ball, and the photo and biography of each of the 220+ inductees. In the Kicks Zone you can hear the story of soccer and test your skills with interactive challenges like kicking and heading balls, as well as custom designed computer games.
The Hall of Fame and Museum are open daily except major holidays.
