Seattle, Washington has a significant contingent of folks with Irish heritage. The Irish celebration starts with various community events during Irish Week, a week prior to St. Pat's day. The Irish Week Festival is held in Center House at the Seattle Center by the Space Needle from Noon to 6 PM each day of the weekend of the parade. There are booths selling Irish and Celtic products, Irish food and libations, plus Irish music, singing, Irish dancers, workshops, cultural displays, children's contests and activities, etc. The big parade downtown in 2011 will be held on Saturday, March 12.

There is also a mini-Parade the night before the St. Patrick's Day Parade to put a green stripe down the center of the parade route. Anyone and everyone is invited to come along for the 'craic', a Gaelic word meaning 'a lot of fun'. There are quite a few Irish pubs, bars and restaurants where you can sample the green beer, Irish drinks and Irish food. So join the fun and be "Erin Go Braugh" meaning "Irish Forever", or at least be so for a day or so of fun.
