On April 18, 1906, an Earthquake and a subsequent fire destroyed most of San Francisco killing more that 30,000 with damage estimated at $500,000,000 in 1906 dollars. The residents of San Francisco rebuilt their city and today it is a jewel on the California coast. It is one of the most visited cities in the United States.
