Most famous for The Alamo, San Antonio is a place that is rich in history. There you can visit the still standing Alamo chapel, now in beautiful landscaping, and the Long Barracks. The Long Barracks Museum and Library will take you back in time with replicas and mementos from the Republic of Texas. The Alamo can also be visited and relived through the IMAX Theater at Rivercenter, where you can experience through a 45-minute docudrama the 13-day siege and fall of the Alamo. Aside from the Alamo, however, there are still many things to see and do. The Buckhorn Saloon and Museum is a popular place to visit as well, with over 120 years of rich Texas history. Some quieter and relaxing places to visit are the Japanese Tea Garden with walkways through gardens and reflecting pools of water; or visit the Riverwalk for which San Antonio is also well known. The Riverwalk has cobblestone paths and footbridges following right alongside the slow moving river. There are casual restaurants there with tables right on the riverside. It’s a lovely view and a perfect way to experience the town. You can also ride a peaceful boat down the river in the same area. There's also numerous other places to see, such as Sunset Station, Tower of the America’s, zoos, aquariums and many more museums. You can’t see it all in one day. But after a day of trying, it’s nice to relax in the evening, along the peaceful riverfront enjoying a great dinner and possibly music and your favorite libation.
