Saint George, Utah with 11 beautiful courses within 15 minutes of each other, the blue skies, sunshine, colorful backdrops, and great play, make this town of 60,000 (and growing) a year-round cornucopia of golfing opportunities for such a little place in the southwest corner of Utah. There is more golf here, per capita, than any other place in the Sunbelt. Several of the courses have won prestigious awards, only one course is private.
St. George, about 2 hours from the bright lights of Las Vegas, is also considered a gateway to Zion National Park (45 minutes), Bryce Canyon National Park (2 1/2 hours), and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (3 hours). Additionally, St. George is about one hour away from Cedar Breaks National Monument and from Brian Head Ski Resort. In the surrounding area, there are also ghost towns, beautiful state parks, canyons, horse riding, historical sites in town, and dining at excellent and diverse restaurants.
The St. George area became known as "Utah's Dixie", because many early settlers were from the South and their crops included cotton. A variety of accommodations are available - from the economy to the resorts.
