At Pinehurst, Southern Pines, and Aberdeen, "Home of American Golf", there are more than 40 classic and signature golf courses. The greenery, colorful flowers, towering hundred-year-old pines, holly, azaleas, wisteria and dogwood, against the blue North Carolina sky create a beautiful and peaceful setting.
In south-central North Carolina, about an hour west of Fayetteville and 1 1/2 hours southwest of Raleigh, the little towns of Pinehurst, Southern Pines, and Aberdeen in the Sandhills of North Carolina have long enjoyed the distinction of being a premier golf destination. Located within just a few minutes of each other, this triangle of towns forms a golf mecca and includes courses in a few areas beyond their immediate borders, such as Whispering Pines and West End.
Some courses are private, some are part of a resort, and some are public. A few of the top courses are: Anderson Creek, Beacon Ridge, Legacy, Mid Pines, Pine Needles, Pinehurst, Talamore, Whispering Woods, and many more.
