Not necessarily one big event, but Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans exudes with Halloween and Voodoo connotations year-round, but particularly around Halloween time, (the 2005 celebration is October 27th through the 31st). Many of the street performers and entertainment places take on a Halloween atmosphere. In the French Quarter you may see practitioners of magic who keep their black arts very much alive, and like scaring unsuspecting tourists on Halloween night.
There are tours available in New Orleans of historic cemetaries and "haunted" sights with ghost, voodoo, and vampire stories. The annual Voodoo Festival with food, music, Voodoo dolls, and ancestral rituals performed by Voodoo priests and priestess' is an event held at Halloween time.
