Located in the former Washington Bath House in Saratoga Springs, New York is the National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame. It was established in 1986, and is the only museum dedicated to American professional dance. The building is a spacious 1918 Arts and Crafts-style place which houses a collection of photographs, videos, costumes, artifacts, biographies, and archives presenting contemporary and retrospective examples of contributions to dance. More than 30 dancers, choreographers, teachers, and designers have been recognized for their influence on dance heritage. Students from the Lewis A. Swyer School for the Performing Arts use the studio space on the property in master classes with renowned dancers.
A Discovery Room where young visitors can try on costumes, dance on a stage, and play instruments; along with a gift shop, search library, and extensive archives are also part of the museum. The Dance Hall of Fame is open from Tuesday until Sunday, weekly (except major holidays).
