In Novi, Michigan, at the Novi Expo Center, just west of Detroit, rests the home of the Motorsports Hall of Fame which was established in 1989. The hall includes a 20,000 square foot museum that houses more than 40 racing and high performance vehicles. The honorable inductees have been chosen from every facet of the Motorsports industry including those who have “driven, piloted, owned, designed, built, supported, prepared, maintained, or promoted motorized vehicles in the pursuit of speed, distance or other records; or in racing, endurance, or other competition”. There are memorabilia and artifacts from drag racing, indy-type racing, stock car racing, airplane racing, speed boats, motorcycles, sports cars, etc. To be inducted into the Hall of Fame a person must meet some of the toughest regiments, exemplified by the person's aspiration to win, mastery of the person's field, and courage to innovate. The nominees must also be retired for 3 years and have spent 20 years in their field.
The Motor Sports Hall of Fame is open every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day (closed July 4); and Thursday – Sunday in the Winters (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
