Hawaii's favorite island, Maui, has some of the state's, and country's, greatest golf. Maui's first golf course was built at Kapalua in the 1800's. Additional courses have followed over the years. The Royal Kaanapali was opened in 1962 as the island's first resort course. There are Kaanapali North and South courses, The Dunes at Maui Lani, Elleair Maui, Makena North and South, Wailea Emerald, several Kapalua courses, plus others situated throughout the island. The weather is normally excellent, although the winds can blow hard at times. For an additional golf adventure, there is the Challenge At Manele and the Experience At Koele, two great courses located on the smaller nearby island of Lanai which is reached from Maui.
You may also want to include a visit to some of the great beaches on Maui, such as Kaanapali Beach.
Airports serving Maui: The main airport is at Wailuku with another (West Maui) by Kapalua. There are some flights to and from the mainland at Wailuku, otherwise you must connect through Honolulu with the mainland.
