Since the days when prehistoric Indians explored the cave by the light of cane reed torches, Mammoth has inspired the imagination, tested the courage, and awakened the senses of visitors. Mammoth Cave in Kentucky is known as the longest cave system in the world with more than 300 miles of known passages, and there is yet more cave to be explored.
However, its surface beauty should not be overlooked. Above ground, Mammoth offers 52,830 acres of scenic parkland. The rugged hills and deep valleys offers solitude and serenity to picnic by a river, lake, or waterfall, explore bluffs and ridge-tops. Along with plant and animal life common to an eastern hardwood forest, the park is home to a number of atypical plant communities, which support some rare and endangered species.
Located off Interstate 65 about 35 miles Northeast of Bowling Green, KY. Activities: Nature Walks, Hiking, Horse Trails, Boating, Fishing, Cave Tours and Bicycle Trails.
