Hotel Reservations near LUMBERJACK WORLD CHAMPIONS FESTIVAL
About 1 1/2 hours south of Duluth, Minn., in the little town of Hayward in scenic northern Wisconsin, more than 12,000 spectators come to watch 200+ skilled lumberjacks (and lumberjills) compete for over $50,000 in prizes over a 3-day event (2008 competition is July 25 through July 27). This is the Lumberjack World Championships!
There is a variety of competitive logging events including chopping and sawing of various styles, boom running, log rolling, log jousting, ax throwing, and tree-climbing attracting competitors from the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It's all presented in a show format with fun and excitement for the entire family. There's also a rendezvous encampment, clown acts and more. It's great entertainment and at night the town has a number of restaurants and bars for those so inclined.
