Intermediate skiers can take a try at Whiteface’s 3-mile run especially maintained to assure the best. Beginners don’t worry, because 1/3 of the mountain trails are designed for you. They didn’t forget snowboarders either, because Whiteface Mountain has long been home to some of the best alpine boarding in the East. And freestylers have been catching major air in the terrain park for years. Nearby Gore Mountain also offers skiing activities.

Activities abound everywhere at Lake Placid, so if you are looking for a winter vacation with plenty of skiing and other exciting Olympic venues then Lake Placid is it. Lake Placid Toboggan Slide, located on Parkside Drive, is a 30' high converted ski jump trestle sending toboggans down ice covered chutes onto frozen Mirror Lake and then traveling to over 1,000 feet on the frozen lake surface. With the maintainence of Olympic venues, Lake Placid also has bobsledding, luge, ski jumping, figure skating, and hockey facilities for training and competition, plus cross country skiing and snowmobiling areas.
