Lake George, New York is an Adirondack beauty, a fun-packed vacation spot, the place to go when you want to relax and take it easy or want to be active. Lake George is about 32 miles long and 3 miles wide. A lot of the shoreline is unsettled, with federal and state conservation efforts helping to keep it that way. Several small communities surround the lake, each with its own uniqueness and life styles. Among these, the village of Lake George offers the largest variety of attractions, dining, shopping and other activities. You can walk a couple blocks or so and rent a boat, watch a war re-enactment, relax on the beach, take a lake cruise, parasail, play miniature golf, play the arcades, take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, sip a cocktail while viewing the lake, or just sit peacefully on a bench and watch the world go by. There's also the Lake George Beach State Park, and within short drives are the Adirondack Mountains scenery, various other lakes and historic sites, as well as peace and tranquility.
