Virginia Beach's Neptune Festival is a celebration of Virginia Beach's sea faring heritage and the grand finale of summer. Heralded as Virginia Beach's largest and oldest event, the Neptune Festival has been named as one of the top festivals in the nation and one of the top ten on the East Coast.
Presided over by King Neptune and his royal court, the festival activities run with periodic events throughout much of the month of September - the 2008 festival to be held from early/mid September thru September 28th. There's wine tasting, an air show, Beach Blast, music, the North American Sandsculpting Championships, parade, arts & crafts, fireworks, and Cheerleading Championships.
The festival culminates with the excitement of Boardwalk Weekend, which takes place the last Friday in September through the weekend (September 26-28) and stretches along 30 beautiful blocks of the Virginia Beach Boardwalk overlooking the oceanfront. Activities, food, the sand sculpturing, and fun, pack the days and nights with so much to do, festival goers won't want to miss a single minute.
