There are a number of U.S. states that have a Golf Hall of Fame, but the World Golf Hall of Fame is located at 1 World Golf Place in St. Augustine, Florida, less than an hour south of Jacksonville.
Golf may have started in Scotland, but in Florida it's a year-round sport. Located on 6,300 acres, you not only have the Golf Hall of Fame, but also the World Golf Village, designed to broaden the interest in the game of golf. Since opening in 1998, there have been more than one million visitors. The exhibits include the Front Nine focusing on the historical game and the Back Nine is the modern game -- in between is the Great Hall honoring the Hall of Fame members from around the world. You can view highlights of some of golf's greatest moments in the Great Championship Moments mini-theater. Try sinking the final putt with the pressure of TV cameras, commentators, and crowd noise, to win the "World Golf Village Open". Take the Walk of Champions where you can take a leisurely stroll around the Village Lake where all World Golf Hall of Fame members are honored - such names as Ben Hogan, Patty Berg, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Billy Casper, Lee Trevino, Robert Trent Jones, Tom Watson, Nancy Lopez, Greg Norman, Payne Stewart, Ben Crenshaw and many more.
The facility is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
