Glacier National Park gets its name from the over 50 glaciers that are found here. In the park you'll find lofty mountain ranges with sculptured glacial valleys, ice cold lakes that mirror mountains and sky, wildflowers and wildlife flourishing in alpine meadows and prairie grasslands. The spectacular glaciated landscape is a hikers' paradise containing over 700 miles of maintained trails that lead into the heart of one of the largest intact ecosystems in the lower 48 states. The park is traversed by the scenic "Going-to-the-Sun Road (closed in Winters).
Located just South of the Canadian border in Northwest Montana and adjacent to Canada's Waterton National Park in British Columbia. The park is open year-round, however access is limited to near the Entrances in the Winters. Activities: Nature Walks, Wildlife Viewing, Hiking, Climbing, Horse Trails, Swimming, Boating, Bicycle Trails, Fishing, Cross Country Skiing and Photography.
