The World Figure Skating Museum and Hall of Fame is located at 20 First Street in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In 1976, the U.S. Figure Skating Association established its hall of fame in Boston. After moving to Colorado Springs in 1979, it was realized that many of the inductees were from other countries and so the name was changed to the World Skating Hall of Fame. The museum preserves the heritage and history of the sport, reliving magical moments through video, film, photographs and much more. You can trace over 1,200 years of the skate beginning with carved bones to the steel blades of today. The Olympic Gold Gallery showcases gold medals, costumes and achievements of the Gold Medalists. There are two galleries honoring both the World and U.S., past and present competitors and officials. See displays honoring Peggy Fleming, Sonja Henie, Scott Hamilton, Brian Boitano, Tara Lipinski, and others, as well as Michele Kwan and Dick Button who are the only two skaters chosen for the American Athletic Union Sullivan Award which annually recognizes the top amateur athlete in the nation.
