Liberty Fest in Edmond, Oklahoma, a northern suburb of Oklahoma City, has an extended celebration of Independence Day. The 2011 Fest begins June 25 and ends with the July 4 fireworks. There are several Festival events almost every night presenting excitement and entertainment that dazzle the 125,000 Festival audience. Liberty Fest events happening the weekend before the 4th include a syncronized and lighted kite festival, the Taste of Edmond Foodfest, a road rally, patriotic art exhibit, bike tour, and more. On the 4th of July there's the parade in the morning (Oklahoma's largest hometown 4th of July parade with over 100 entries) and a family celebration in the park after the parade. The parade includes a giant American flag carried by some of the 500 volunteers who help with Liberty Fest. Beginning in the late afternoon of the 4th there's live entertainment with country and oldies songs and the grand finale fireworks show after dark (the largest fireworks show in the metro Oklahoma City area).
