The forty-niners, who named California's Death Valley, found out the hard way, that this is the hottest spot on the continent. Rain rarely falls here; the air is clear and dry plus for six months of the year the unmerciful heat rules the land. However, this 120 mile long basin is an exciting world of inspiring contrasts and wonders. From brilliant wildflowers and snow-covered peaks to the beautiful sand dunes and deep blue sky, which is all quite the opposite of its ominous name.
Some attractions within the park include the Death Valley Museum, the Old Borax Works, Scotty's Castle and several scenic loop drives.
Open all year, the park is located in California, just West of Southern Nevada, Death Valley is about 3 hours North of the greater Los Angeles area and 2 hours West of vibrant Las Vegas. Activities: Hiking, Mountain Climbing, Horse Trails, Bicycle Trails, and Jeep Trails.
