The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is located at 9990 Riverside Drive in Powell, a northern suburb of Columbus, Ohio. Jack Hanna joined the Columbus Zoo in September of 1978, helping to make it the third largest municipally owned zoo in North America. With 400 acres, this zoo offers a full day of excitement with 700 species and more than 6,000 animals. There's a cheetah collection, the world's largest indoor pachyderm exhibit, one of the world's largest reptile collections, and a lot more. This zoo is the site of the first gorilla birth in captivity. And the Manatee Coast exhibit is home to a dozen different species of the endangered manatee.
There are gift shops offering something for everyone. Food courts with indoor/outdoor seating, as well as picnic areas and concessions, are located throughout the park.
The Columbus Zoo is open every day of the year and is handicapped (wheelchair) accessible - electric carts, wheelchair, and stroller rentals are available.
