Nothing sounds quite as good as the crack of a bat against a baseball, an old-fashioned organ playing crowd-pleasing baseball tunes, or the crunch of peanut shells underfoot. From June 19 thru June 29 (or 30th if needed) in 2010 (except the 27th), the memorable sights and folksy sounds of the NCAA College World Series will continue, as it has for over fifty years, as fans from all over the United States descend on Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska to enjoy ten days of college baseball’s wildest plays, most talented collegiate athletes, and midwestern hospitality.
Eight regional teams play in a double elimination tournament culminating in the nationally televised championship game on Saturday. This is a hometown apple pie gathering of pure baseball.
Requiring no more than a walk across the street from Rosenblatt Stadium, families have no excuse to miss one of Omaha’s most prestigious attractions, the Henry Doorly Zoo, recently ranked the number one family-friendly attraction in the United States (ahead of Florida’s Walt Disney World) by Disney’s Family Fun magazine. Our "tip" from a local resident and frequent attendee to the College World Series games: Don’t miss a visit to Zestos, a “walk-in” located on the south side of the stadium parking lot - Great Ice cream and more.
