The College Football Hall of Fame is a 58,000 square foot museum of football history immortalizing the game's legendary figures and today's champions. To be eligible a player must have been out of college for 10 years and have been a first team all American pick, coaches must be retired for 3 years. Bobby Dodd and Amos Alonzo Stagg are the only members honored as both players and coaches. The College Football Hall of Fame is located at 111 South St. Joseph Street in South Bend, Indiana. The facility is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.
Your tour begins at the Gridiron Plaza and ends at the Gift Shop. You can visit a 360 degree theater with surround-sound where you can enjoy a game complete with pre-game show and halftime activities. The Pigskin Pageantry is an interactive exhibit where you can cheer with the cheerleaders, march with the band, and even enjoy homecoming and tailgating. In the Hall of Champions you will find over 800 honorees with a timeline from the beginning of football up to today, highlighting each decade with interactive video kiosks to travel back in time. The three areas in the training center are the Training Room, Practice Field and Strategy Clinic where you will be tested, evaluated and scored on your abilities. And in the press box you can call a game and get a video taped segment of your own voice.
