The Birmingham Zoo in Alabama is home to 700 some animals from all over the world, including many on the endangered species list, as well as some unusual ones such as, the radiated tortoise, Bali mynah, cinereous vulture, white-naped crane, black and white ruffed lemur, gibbon, cotton-top tamarin, langur, orangutan, lion-tailed macaque, lowland gorilla, mandrill, ring-tailed lemur, Asian small-clawed otter, fishing cat, Indochinese tiger, lion, cheetah, maned wolf, pallas cat, snow leopard, red panda, giraffe, Asian elephant, white rhinoceros, and more. See the alligator swamp, the sea lion feeding, a tropical rain forest, and the Australian parrots (and other birds) in the walk-through aviary. Ride the Zoo Train and the Zoo Carousel, and refresh yourself at the snack bar.
The Birmingham Zoo is open daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas. The zoo is handicapped (wheelchair) accessible.
