Mardi Gras has a long and colorful history in Biloxi, Mississippi. Here you can celebrate the outrageous traditions of Mardi Gras and gamble at the casinos, while overlooking the beautiful beaches. Less than 2 hours east of New Orleans' French Quarter, you can walk the beaches, view parades, eat the traditional King Cake, catch some beads (and casino tokens & cups), plus go deep sea fishing, play golf, and sun worship. Biloxi owns Mississippi Coast’s oldest and most prestigious Carnival organization. With nearly 300 sponsors, it leads the way in providing the greatest free show on the Coast. Its parades have been judged the best on the Coast, and its King d’Iberville and Queen Ixolib are considered the official royalty of Mississippi Coast Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras is on "Fat Tuesday", the day before Ash Wednesday and 47 days before Easter (the 40 days and 7 Sundays of Lent). Today, the Biloxi Carnival Association continues the tradition begun 95 years ago, with King d'Iberville and Queen Ixolib reigning over parades in Biloxi on Fat Tuesday (March 8, 2011).
