Hotel Reservations near BANFF NATIONAL PARK - CANADA
Banff has a rich history going back to the creation of Canada as a nation. In 1883, two years before the driving of the last spike marked the completion of Canada's first transcontinental railroad, three workers stumbled upon a series of hot springs on the lower shoulder of what is now called Sulphur Mountain. After a heated ownership dispute, the spring and surrounding area were set aside as Canada's first national park in 1885.
Each year, millions of visitors come to Banff National Park to marvel at the majestic mountain peaks, hot springs, great valleys, dense forests, glacial gem lakes, alpine meadows and spectacular rivers. These are just some of the natural splendor that fills this 6641 square km (2564 square mile) park. Lake Louise is one of the park's most popular spots.
Located in the Canadian Rocky Mountains on the Alberta side of the Continental Divide. It is situated 80 miles West of Calgary. It borders the South end of Jasper National Park and includes the picturesque town of Banff.
