Today the city is a major transportation center with the nation's busiest airport plus the intersections of Interstates 20, 75 and 85. It has become a major convention center and is home to various corporate headquaters such as, Coca-Cola, CNN, Scientific Atlanta, Equifax, Delta Airlines, the Weather Channel and others. It is also home to the National Center for Disease Control, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Emory University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University. The 1996 Summer Olympics were held in Atlanta.

Historic Site, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, Stone Mountain Park (includes a 1,685 foot granite mountain with a carving of Conferderate heros), Cyclorama of the Battle of Atlanta, Underground Atlanta (restored 6 city blocks with a dozen restaurants and over 100 shops, mostly under an old viaduct system), Carter Presidental Center and Library, World of Coca-Cola, CNN Center (tours available), Six Flags, High Museum of Art, Zoo Atlanta, Atlanta Botanical Garden, and more.
