The American Classical Music Hall of Fame is located in the historic Herschede building on Fourth Street in downtown Cincinnati. It was founded in 1996 by David A. Klingshim, a Cincinnati businessman. In May, 1998 the first induction took place during a concert by the United States Marine Band.
The first floor of the 9,000 square foot facility contains biographical plaques highlighting the lives and achievements of each inductee along with an Interactive Listening Kiosk which allows guests to hear samples of each honoree. The second floor features a 3,500 square foot performance space and showcases of memorabilia and artifacts of items pertaining to classical music. There is also the Art Gallery which exhibits artwork from local up-and-coming talented artists who have chosen music as their inspiration. The American Classical Music Hall of Fame continues in its mission to help strengthen existing audiences for classical music while nuturing a new generation of classical music enthusiasts. The Hall of Fame is open Mon-Fri, closed weekends and holidays.
